The selection process for the 1980 Summer Olympics consisted of two bids, and saw Moscow be selected ahead of Los Angeles at the 75th IOC Session in Vienna, Austria on 13 October 1974. Both cities had failed in their bids for the 1976 Summer Olympics. Los Angeles would ultimately be awarded the 1984 Summer Olympics four years later.[1]
